Nu aanvragen

Imagine starting your morning surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness, driving beneath ancient baobab trees while elephants move peacefully across the savannah, and before the day ends, sitting with Maasai people for a glimpse of one of Tanzania's most fascinating cultures.

This is more than a safari. It is a full day of wildlife, adventure, photography and authentic Tanzanian culture, all in one unforgettable experience.

After your wildlife adventure, we head toward a Maasai community near the Tarangire area for a complimentary cultural experience, subject to the community's availability and local arrangements on the day. This is your opportunity to experience Tanzania beyond the safari vehicle.

Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Pickup from Arusha: Your professional guide collects you from your hotel, lodge or the airport in a 4x4 vehicle with a pop-up roof, then briefs you on the day's program as the scenery changes from busy town to open countryside and Maasai communities.

Arrival and morning game drive: Welcome to Tarangire, the "Paradise of Elephants." Your guide reads the landscape and tracks animal movement in search of elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, warthogs, monkeys and spectacular birdlife.

The baobab moment: Stops at Tarangire's spectacular baobab landscapes, standing beneath a giant, ancient tree while elephants walk across the golden savannah in the distance, one of the most recognisable safari scenes in Tanzania.

Picnic lunch in the wild: Lunch at a designated picnic area, surrounded by the sounds and scenery of the African bush, followed by a short rest before the afternoon adventure.

Afternoon game drive: Continue exploring different areas of the park as your guide explains animal behaviour, tracks and signs, the Tarangire ecosystem and how wildlife survives the dry season around the river and its seasonal wetlands.

Free Maasai cultural experience: A complimentary visit to a Maasai community near Tarangire, subject to availability: traditional homes, livestock and pastoral life, songs and dancing, and a chance to meet local artisans and ask questions.

Depart Tarangire, arrive Arusha: After saying goodbye to your Maasai hosts, the drive back to Arusha gives you time to relax and look back through your photographs. Drop-off at your hotel or lodge around 19:00–20:00.

Return to Arusha same day · Picnic lunch included

Veelgestelde vragen

What makes Tarangire different from the Serengeti?

Tarangire is famous for its huge elephant herds, sometimes over 300 in a single sighting, and its iconic baobab trees. It sees far fewer visitors than the Serengeti, so it feels wilder and quieter for a day trip close to Arusha.

Is this a full day or a half day?

A full day, roughly 07:00 to 18:00, with a picnic lunch inside the park included.

Can I combine this with other parks later?

Yes. Many travellers use this as their first day before continuing to Ngorongoro or the Serengeti on a longer itinerary. Ask us and we will build a multi-day route around it.
